DCC · DATA COMPLIANCE CHINA China data law, for overseas counsel.
§ MASTHEAD

Translation Policy.

Data Compliance China (DCC) publishes English translations and editorial summaries of public Chinese-language commentary on data-protection law. This page explains how that work is sourced, attributed, and corrected.

Sourcing

DCC works only from material its authors published publicly — primarily WeChat Official Account articles and other openly available commentary. DCC does not translate or republish paywalled, private, or internal documents.

Attribution

Every translated brief names the original author, the original publication, and the original publication date, and links to the source. The English version is edited for clarity and context, but it is always presented as a translation and summary of someone else’s work — not as original reporting.

Legal and regulatory terms follow the project glossary. Chinese legal concepts are not silently mapped onto GDPR vocabulary when the concepts differ — for example, “personal information handler” is not rendered as “data controller”. Where a term has no settled English form, the original Chinese is kept on first mention.

Editor’s notes

Background the original author did not provide is added only in a clearly marked editor’s note. DCC does not insert context, caveats, or opinion into the original author’s argument.

Corrections and removal

If you are an original author and you would like a correction, an attribution change, or the removal of a translated brief, contact [email protected]. DCC honors reasonable removal requests promptly and does not ask for a justification.

DCC is editorial translation and commentary. It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for professional advice on any specific matter. Consult the original sources and qualified counsel for any legal use.
